Ali Metin BÜYÜKKARAKAYA
I am a faculty member at Hacettepe University, Department of Anthropology. Since 2001, I have participated in one or more archaeological excavations almost every year in the country and abroad. One of my main areas of interest is the human-nature interaction and biocultural analysis of the effects of the dramatic changes created by the Neolithic lifestyle in human history in the context of human behavioral ecology. At the same time, I carry out studies on the nutritional models, health structure and genetic relations of human communities who lived in the Bronze Age, Iron Age, classical periods and the Middle Ages in Anatolia. Also, mortuary practices and rituals from past to present in terms of social bioarchaeology constitutes my special research area.
Evren SERTALP
I am a faculty member at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television and Cinema. I opened personal exhibitions in Turkey and abroad, and also participated in many group exhibitions. In the context of visual communication design, the field of virtual anthropology is my special interest. More specifically, augmented reality, virtual reality, holographic visuals, 3-dimensional stereoscopic images are among my work topics.

Benjamin IRVINE
Benjamin Irvine is a bioarchaeologist who specialises in utilising osteological, archaeological, and stable isotope analyses to examine human-environment interactions; particularly the dietary habits, subsistence practices, agricultural strategies, and mobility patterns of past populations in Anatolia and adjacent regions.
Erge BÜTÜN
I obtained my B.A. degree in Translation and Interpreting and my minor degree in International Relations at Hacettepe University in 2019. In the same year, I started my master’s degree in the Department of Anthropology at Hacettepe University. I focused on population history and biological distance of Anatolian populations dating to the Middle Ages for my master’s and graduated in July 2023. Currently, I am a PhD student in the same department and university. My interests include population history, mortuary practices, and bioarchaeology. Besides laboratory works that I conduct at the Ä°DEA lab, I participate in archaeological excavations and projects to gain experience.

Yaren EMMEZ
I graduated from Hacettepe University Psychology department in 2021 and am continuing my master’s degree at Hacettepe University Anthropology department. I focus on how the concept of death changed and transformed through the changes through the Neolithic period with the different approaches from psychology and anthropology. Fear of death, mortuary practices and rituals, Terror Management Theory and the evolutionary basis of behaviour are my interest topics. I am still working on my master’s dissertation which is researching mortuary practices in Tepecik-Çiftlik.
Muhammed DOLMUÅž
I graduated from the deparment of Archaeology at Hacettepe University in 2011. I also got my master degree from the same department in 2019. I studied on Hassuna Samarra Cultures of Mesopotamian Neolithic in my master thesis. I regularly participated in several archaeological excavations and surveys projects since 2006, which contain different periods such as Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Classical Periods and Medieval Age. Besides the pottery studies, burial practices and digital archive studies are also my speacial research interest.

Elifgül DOÄžAN
I obtained my B.A in Archaeology and History of Art and my minor in International Relations at Koç University in Istanbul (2016). During my MA studies, I specialised in Heritage Management and Museum Studies with a focus on archaeological human remains collections. Currently, I am continuing my doctoral research at the University of Cambridge and investigate the political, legal, and professional challenges surrounding human remains collections in Turkey. Besides my academic work, I work as a curatorial and collection management trainee at the Duckworth Laboratory in Cambridge.

Since 2010, I have been conducting experimental archaeological studies of the prehistoric period independently. I have done many workshops so far. I teach as an instructor in some archaeological projects. In my experimental archaeological studies, I personally collect all materials from nature, without using modern tools and equipment, and by abiding to the technology and methods of the period. I have various heuristic expertises, such as making fire-starting techniques and performing ancient cooking practices, in addition to making toolkit using other plant and animal resources besides stone, clay, bone, leather and minerals.
ÇaÄŸrı SARIKAYA
I completed my undergraduate and graduate studies at Dumlupınar University, Department of Archaeology. I took part in many archaeological excavation and survey projects in different disciplines. In 2013, I started aerial photography in archaeology and developed myself in remote sensing and documentation methods in archaeology, and in my master's thesis, I wrote about the detection of prehistoric caves and rock cavities in valleys and canyons belonging to cultural heritage by UAV, creating 3D models, mapping and digital documentation methods in archaeology with remote sensing. I am still working on various archaeological projects.
Zeynep Beyza AÄžIRSOY
In 2015, I successfully graduated from Hacettepe University with a bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, subsequently advancing my academic pursuits by completing master’s study at Ankara University, specializing in Prehistoric Archaeology. Presently, I am engrossed in the preparation of my PhD thesis, which focuses on the Neolithic chipped stone industry of Gre Fılla settlement. My graduate and PhD studies provided me with a comprehensive education that examined the prehistory of different geographies, especially Anatolia, the Near East, Europe, Asia and even the Americas, through the lens of chipped stone industries.
Since 2016, I have been working as a chipped stone specialist in archaeological excavations. As a result of my academic and field experiences, I have carried out techno-typological analyses of various chipped stone industries from the Palaeolithic, Epi-Palaeolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Bronze Age and Iron Age in the Near East. Thanks to these analyses, I continue to interpret the economic and social changes in the daily life of people through chipped stone industries and continue to improve myself.
Ezgi KÜÇÜKEL
​I graduated from Istanbul University department of Biology in 2019. During my undergraduate education, I worked as a volunteer in systematic botany and plant physiology laboratories. I started my master's degree in the Botany Program at Hacettepe University Department of Biology in the 2023 Spring semester. In the 2023 Fall semester, I transferred to Ankara University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition. My master's degree process continues. At the same time, I continue my projects at Hacettepe University. My interests include plant evolution, archaeobotany, soil biology and philosophy of science.
